FRANKENBOT

Reclaimed Junk, Wires, PVC, PLA, LEDs, Servos, LCD Screen, RC Controller and Receiver

DESCRIPTION

I led a team of three in the creation of FrankenBot for a 30-second ad. While I created the preliminary designs, the assemblage nature of the project meant that much of the robot was designed at the workbench. Some of the junk we used includes:

-1 Vacuum cleaner

-1 Bike rack

-2 Swing arm lamps

-1 Metal toolbox

-3 Sets of chattering teeth

-1 Camera lens

-1 LCD monitor

-1 Claw machine claw

-Hundreds of feet of wires and cables.

The arms are puppeted with rods, with servos controlling one hand, the lips, and the right eye. All servos were live puppeted on set with two RC controllers.​ This project was delivered on time and under-budget. Shooting was accomplished in a single day with a team of 3 puppeteers and 3 film students.
