DANDELION HELMET

I originally conceived this helmet as part of a collection of sci-fi helmets with botanical themes. I wanted it to feel like a real piece of military-surplus found in a post-apocalyptic future. The base was constructed from an old hard hat, cardboard, epoxy resin, and Bondo. I used plastic baseball bats to create the large air filter tubes on the back of the helmet which kept things relatively light. I painted the base olive drab and then attached more greebles and tubing, before weathering the whole thing.​​​ The last set of photos are of a complete "swamp scavenger" costume I created to go with the helmet.
